Twelve short favourites from our animal collections, ready for lunchboxes, reading partners or a classroom warm-up. Each card has a question and its answer on the same side. Cover the answer with a finger or a scrap of paper while someone guesses.

Print, cut and share
- Open either PDF. Print single-sided on Letter paper at actual size. For A4 paper, choose βFitβ in your printer settings.
- Cut along the dashed card borders. A grown-up can help with cutting.
- Choose a card, hide the answer, and read the question. Pause before revealing the punchline.
- Swap readers or put one card into a lunchbox for later.
There are no card backs to align and no account to create. Use a pack at home or in class.

1. Duck
Which side of a duck has the most feathers?
The outside!

What dog can jump higher than a tree?
Any dog: trees can't jump!

Why did the cat put the letter "M" into the fridge?

Choose a way to use them
- At home: put a card by a place setting and let the reader choose whether to tell it.
- With a partner: one person reads the question and the other reads the answer, then swap.
- In class: choose one card and ask which word or idea makes the answer surprising.
